Head of Finance

Hoofddorp
Full-time
Permanent employee

Your job

We are looking for a Head of Finance to lead and develop our finance function as Get-e continues to scale internationally. This is a key leadership role in our growth journey, combining strategic financial leadership with hands-on execution, commercial business partnering, and continuous improvement of our finance operations. You will be leading a team of four full-time employees.

As Head of Finance, you take ownership of financial reporting, planning, cash flow management, financial controls, and business performance insights. You work closely with the CFO and Leadership Team to translate financial and operational data into actionable insights, support strategic decisions, and drive profitable growth across the business.

A key priority will be to transform how finance operates through AI, automation, and smarter processes. You will identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across transactional finance processes, including procure-to-pay, accounts payable, reconciliations, and month-end close. You will champion the practical application of AI in finance, moving beyond experimentation to deliver measurable improvements in productivity, control, and decision-making.

You will also strengthen Get-e’s business control capabilities. This means not only developing the team's ability to understand and challenge business performance, but also personally taking an active role in analysing margins, profitability, cost drivers, and operational KPIs. You will help embed a culture of financial ownership and data-driven decision-making throughout the organisation.

This is a role for a commercially minded finance leader who combines strong technical foundations with a hands-on mentality, embraces technology, and enjoys building processes, capabilities, and teams in a fast-growing international environment.

Your profile

As Head of Finance, you will report to the CFO and lead the finance team, setting its priorities, developing its capabilities, and ensuring the function can support the next phase of Get-e’s growth.

You will be a trusted business partner to the Leadership Team, working closely with departments including Sales, Customer Success, Operations, and other business stakeholders. You will ensure that financial reporting and analysis go beyond explaining historical results to actively influencing future performance.

You will take ownership of the end-to-end finance function, balancing reliable financial operations and compliance with forward-looking business control, technology-driven transformation, and strategic support.

You will be expected to lead through others while remaining hands-on where needed: from challenging commercial assumptions and building profitability models to improving workflows, implementing AI-enabled solutions, and resolving complex financial issues.

Responsibilities
1. Financial leadership and reporting
  • Lead the finance function and establish clear priorities, responsibilities, and performance standards for the team.
  • Own the monthly financial reporting cycle, management accounts, variance analysis, and budget control.
  • Ensure an accurate, complete, and timely month-end close, supported by robust financial checks and internal controls.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual accounts, statutory reporting, and audit processes, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting and regulatory requirements.
  • Own cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and financial planning to support the company's liquidity and growth.
  • Partner with the CFO on financial strategy, business planning, risk management, and other strategic initiatives.
2. Business control and commercial performance
  • Develop and embed strong business control capabilities within the finance team, while personally leading key analyses and acting as a hands-on business controller.
  • Take ownership of profitability analysis across customers, routes, products, services, and other relevant business segments.
  • Monitor and challenge revenue, gross margin, contribution margin, EBITDA, and operational cost drivers.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning, ensuring financial plans reflect operational realities and commercial objectives.
  • Develop financial models and business cases to support pricing decisions, customer profitability, investments, resource allocation, and cost optimisation.
  • Translate financial and operational data into clear recommendations for the Leadership Team and relevant business stakeholders.
  • Establish and improve KPIs, performance dashboards, and reporting that connect operational activity to financial outcomes.
  • Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and performance deviations, working with business leaders to agree and implement corrective actions.
  • Build a culture of accountability in which teams understand the financial impact of their decisions and take ownership of business performance.
3. AI, automation, and finance transformation
  • Define and drive the finance function's AI and automation agenda, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, scalability, accuracy, and control.
  • Apply AI practically across finance workflows, with a particular focus on procure-to-pay (P2P), accounts payable, invoice processing, transaction coding, reconciliations, financial checks, and month-end close.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive manual activities, streamline approval workflows, reduce processing times, and improve the quality of financial data.
  • Evaluate, test, and implement AI-enabled tools and solutions that deliver measurable business value, working with internal stakeholders and external providers where appropriate.
  • Redesign finance processes to take advantage of automation and AI, rather than simply automating inefficient existing workflows.
  • Establish appropriate controls around AI usage, including data quality, access rights, confidentiality, human review, auditability, and compliance.
  • Track the impact of automation initiatives through measurable outcomes such as time saved, cost per transaction, processing accuracy, exception rates, and close-cycle duration.
  • Promote an AI-first mindset within the finance team, ensuring colleagues actively identify and adopt new ways of working.
4. Finance operations, systems, and controls
  • Own and continuously improve the end-to-end finance operating model, ensuring processes remain efficient and scalable as the business grows.
  • Lead the ongoing optimisation and development of NetSuite, improving system configuration, data integrity, workflows, reporting, and financial controls.
  • Improve the integration of financial and operational data to create a reliable source of truth for management reporting and decision-making.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and internal controls that support consistent execution, reduce errors, and strengthen the audit trail.
  • Drive improvements across accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, reconciliations, and other core finance processes.
  • Work with relevant teams to improve master data quality, transaction completeness, and the reliability of financial reporting.
  • Support the development of business intelligence capabilities and self-service reporting to improve visibility across the organisation.
5. Team leadership and capability development
  • Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, creating a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Build the team's technical finance, commercial analysis, business control, data, and AI capabilities.
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, objectives, and development plans aligned with the evolving needs of the business.
  • Move the team towards a proactive business partnering model, with less time spent on manual processing and more focus on analysis, insight, and value creation.
  • Identify capability gaps and implement practical solutions through coaching, training, process redesign, and recruitment where needed.
  • Set a strong example by combining strategic leadership with hands-on problem-solving and execution.
Skills and experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Relevant senior finance experience, ideally in a high-growth, international, technology-enabled, or scale-up environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a finance function or a substantial part of one, with the ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong financial accounting knowledge, including month-end close, management reporting, annual accounts, audit, and internal controls.
  • Proven business control and commercial finance experience, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, financial modelling, and KPI development.
  • Strong practical experience using AI and automation to improve finance processes, with the ability to identify use cases, implement solutions, and measure results.
  • Understanding of procure-to-pay and other transactional finance workflows, including opportunities for automation and improved controls.
  • Experience with ERP systems, ideally NetSuite, and a strong understanding of financial data flows and system controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with business intelligence, data analysis, or reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear business recommendations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively and influence senior decision-makers.
  • Experience building, coaching, and developing a finance team, including strengthening its commercial and analytical capabilities.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
  • A proactive, pragmatic, and commercially minded approach, with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and genuine enthusiasm for using technology to build a more efficient, insightful, and scalable finance function.
